Is it a Dupe? Maybelliene Color Tattoo in Edgy Emerald VS M.A.C Fluidline in Ivy

Disclaimer: it is ok to break makeup rules and experiment.

Have you tried Maybelliene Color Tattoos? These cream shadows are BOMB.COM. The color bad to the bronze especially, wow, great cream shadow. I liked that so much I went back for other colors, one being the Edgy Emerald. When I was writing my review of the Ivy Fluidline by M.A.C I noticed a striking similarity…could these be dupes?

Commence investigation…

First, swatch test. The Maybelline applied patchy and was not as smooth. This is something that I attributed to it being used for something other than it’s main purpose. Since this is meant as a shadow, the more dry text makes sense to me in a way. You can see in the swatches that the top one, the M.A.C one, is a tad darker. Close enough…

Second, application test. Using the same brush, I applied the liners to my eye. Top picture is showing the ivy liner and the bottom picture is showing the maybelline.  The Maybelline needed a bit more work and was patchy. But with patience and persistence you can build this up.

Third, wear time. The M.A.C liner stays all day. Since I wear this liner a lot, I already knew this. Both of our green friends had long last time; the swathes on my hand were still there after an entire day (working, dishes, etc.).
Final thoughts?
Not an exact dupe, BUT, this is close enough. If you want to try a nice green liner look and don’t want to splurge on the M.A.C version, give these color tattoos a try. Plus, there are always rotating brand sales at the drugstore so you can get really good deals on these. I do think the Color Tattoo will dry up much faster and not last as long as the M.A.C liner, so that is something to consider. The application and wear time are both pretty good though. Note that I didn’t try this with other colors, so I can truly only speak to the green Color Tattoo.

Let me know if you have tried any of the other colors in this way! Hope you like it!

Until next time, plant nothing but love.
