As I’ve mentioned before, I love reading. I love reading a hardcover or on a kindle. I love memoirs, fantasy, fiction and even an occasional physics book. I just love it, reading makes me feel whole. It relaxes me, distresses me and engages my imagination.
Every year we have a local book sale. All the proceeds go back into the public library system and there are TONS of books that are so cheap. The book sale is a week long…but of course my husband and I were on line on day one! Here is what I picked up.
The entire Harry Potter series. I got all seven books for about 20-25 dollars. Can you believe it? They are in really good condition, too. I have read the first one but wanted to finish the series. It’s something that has been on my list for a while. The set goes for a pretty penny on amazon for kindle, so this book sale was a good place for me to read them. I felt like when I saw them they were just there waiting for me to take them home. It was meant to be!
Game of Thrones. I didn’t get all of the series at the book sale, but the middle three I picked up for…$1.50 each! WHAT! We ran to Barnes and Noble to get the first and last book of the series. A while ago I tried to read the first book but at page 100 I realized that I didn’t know who was who and what was what. There are a lot of characters to keep straight. So why did I want to give these another shot? Couple reasons. First, I like this type of story. I mean, dragons really get me every time. Second, I am a super fan of the show now so I think the visuals of seeing the characters will help with the reading. Currently in a love affair/obsession/stalking book one and it is a lot easier to follow.
Jurassic Park and The Lost World, by Michael Crichton. Love the movies, all of them, old and new. Jurassic Park I have never read, so I saw this for $1 and it was a no brainer. Excited to finally read the books.
And the best part about picking up a series you’ve been wanting? Putting them up in their home on the bookshelf! There is something so special about that…is it just me?
We will probably head back another day before the week is out, but there isn’t much else I need or am looking for. Don’t you just love a good book sale?
Until next time, plant nothing but love.
