Review: COVERGIRL Colorlicious Lip Lava Lip Gloss

Caution: glitter and sparkles ahead! IMG_7208 These lip glosses from COVERGIRL came out around November 2014.  At first glance I thought these were limited edition because of the different packaging, it is so different than their usual packaging!  However, overtime these beauts have found a permanent home in the beauty aisle at my local drugstore.

*Insert sigh of relief here*

These retail on target.com for $5.99 each.  Keep in mind that you might be able to get a good sale if you get them at a drugstore.  I live in Hawaii where everything is a little bit more expensive and I bought mine for $8.99 each and used a buy one get one half off sale.  Always look for a sale!

When you twist the shiny red cap open and pull the brush tip applicator out, you might first notice the scent.  It isn’t chemically or perfumey at all…it is more fruity!  Melon?  Citrus?  I can’t place it exactly, but it is not offensive at all.

This product is super reflective, so if you are an exclusively matte lip person you won’t like this product.  Also, these do not claim to be long wearing…they are glosses after all. You will need to reapply.

Note in the swatches the pigment in these bad boys!  Right!  Paint these on with care, friends.  After application these set to a nice tacky feel, not too sticky.  Although, I do admit I don’t mind sticky glosses anyway.  One caution though: don’t over apply.  These will form those really cute “blobs” on the inner part of the lips if you apply this too thick.  We don’t want that.

IMG_7210Look It’s Lava!

  • Hot pink with blue dual chrome
  • Make your teeth look white
  • Almost stains the lips because the pigment is so rich
  • Good hot pink to try, if you are looking for one

FullSizeRenderLychee Lava

  • Pinky/coral color with gold undertone
  • Really wearable, will match anything
  • Pretty much made for  summer

So overall, these are a nice addition to the COVERGIRL collection.  There is a wide range of colors from gold to red to purple.  The price is decent and these almost remind me of M.A.C dazzleglass.  I wonder if that was their intent?  Either way, if a sparkly lip gloss is your thing, give these a try!

Until next time, plant nothing but love.
